Letter to the Muslims of Europe

If you (reader) are one of the twenty million devout Muslims currently resident in Europe, I’d like to try explain to you why I believe your beliefs are incompatible with the culture of your adopted home. But more than this, I hope also to persuade you that this view (shared by a growing majority of Europeans) does not emanate from ignorance or racism, and why it may not be a defeat or a humiliation for you to agree with it.

You or your parents probably came to Europe initially for economic reasons, seeking a better life and a more secure future. There is nothing dishonourable or unusual about that. Most non-Muslim migrants make the journey with the same ambitions. The West is very wealthy and safe relative to the rest of the world and so it is only rational to want to join it.

Once here, you or your parents probably planned to exist in a peaceful but separate state to the majority, maintaining your beliefs and traditions quietly in the same way that Orthodox Jews and Eastern Orthodox migrants have done in the past. Increasingly, this doesn’t seem to be possible, if it ever was. And in my view, the reasons for that directly relate to the nature of Islamic belief and the sense of mission that is so inseparable from it.

Unlike Christianity or Judaism, yours is a conquering faith, not a persuading one. Relatively little importance is given to peaceful proselytization in Islam. While there are occasionally stalls set out in front of tube stations or elsewhere in city centres to preach Islamic doctrine, this is an imitation of Christian practice and not something organically ‘Muslim’. Rather, Muslims have historically sought to attain dominion over society by violence, sometimes later permitting religious diversity within that society, but never allowing any symbol to enjoy precedence over the crescent. Their hope, indeed their announced intention, has always been to exalt Islam to a position of cultural dominance and authority. While Christians and Jews have peacefully resided as minorities in many different parts of the world, Muslims have always struggled with the very concept of minority life. Since Allah is supposed to be the only authority to which submission is made, it is seen by most Muslims (and perhaps by you specifically) to be incongruous that a divine authority is subordinate to any non-Islamic regime, whether secular or religious. Minarets are built to tower above all other buildings for grander reasons than amplification. They proclaim symbolically the primacy and authority of Islam over the territory Muslims inhabit. It will simply not do that cathedrals or government buildings are larger or invested with more power and importance. Indeed, it is blasphemous and idolatrous. As Islamists never forget to proclaim before they demolish some priceless artefact – “Nothing and no-one is worthy of veneration except Allah”.

This sense of mission, inherent within Islamic theory, has radically altered human history. The nations of Lebanon, Libya and Syria were once Christian. The territory of what is now Pakistan and Afghanistan was once Buddhist. Persia was once Zoroastrian. That these places are now Muslim is testament to Islam’s conquering urge and military spirit. Islam seeks not only to convert, but to dominate and subdue. It is expansionist by its very nature. It was not designed to be one faith out of many, but to be the one and only faith of all humankind. The Quran itself is not shy of stating this. I would quote the passages urging the subjugation of unbelievers here but this would be so long as to be disruptive to my argument.

Your faith is antagonistic to everything but itself. And since you began settling in Europe back in the 1960s, members of your community have behaved in a way harmonious with that analysis. Just recently in Britain, there has been a wave of serious sexual assault committed by Muslims against exclusively non-Muslim children. Some estimates put the number of girls assaulted by British Pakistanis as high as 200,000. In the town of Rotherham alone, at least 1400 girls are known to have been forced into sexual slavery by Muslim gangs.

And even when it doesn’t lead to assault, your behaviour around women (if you are a man) is infantile and tactless. It would appear customary that upon meeting a woman (Muslim or otherwise, online or in real life) your first words either involve sex or invite a personal relationship that can lead to sex. It might surprise you – it probably has surprised you – but non-Muslim women do not enjoy being asked for their phone number or address by a complete stranger without any preceding conversation. Your lack of charm – indeed, your failure to even understand the idea and purpose of charm – is absolute. To you, women are merely sexual animals, possessing no greater value or agency than cats and dogs. For this reason, perhaps more than any other, I find it difficult to breathe the same air as you.

Then there are the acts of extreme violence. Members of your community blew up the train network in Madrid, Spain and the subway in London, England. Members of your community massacred the staff of a cartoon tabloid in Paris. Members of your community have beheaded European citizens, the most recent case occurring only a month ago. You even hunt your own kind! Hundreds of Muslim women have now been killed in Europe in the name of ‘honour’ – and usually by members of their own family. Every year, thousands of Muslim girls are taken abroad to have their vagina mutilated by a shaving razor and then brought back to lead a miserable, painful existence with the perpetrators.

How could we possibly put up with this? What kind of people would we be if we did?

Face the facts, a growing proportion of the native population of Europe actively despises you, and does so without allowing any distinction for your race, Islamic school or individual contribution to European society. After decades of aggressive dysfunction and sickening crime, people simply hate you. They hate you and they fear you. And it is becoming difficult for even the most committed liberal to propose a reason why they shouldn’t.

There is an obvious – some would say cartoonish – contrast between the Islamic conception of society and the hopes and opinions of the Europeans. We value things you view as Satanic. You value things we regard as barbaric. You put faith before reason. We put reason before faith. You regard women as second-class human beings. We regard the sexes as equal. You view freedom of speech as being limited to secular matters. We believe it should permeate every corner of life and thought.

Even if this weren’t the case, your religious tradition is not the one that we are used to and which has inspired and characterised our manners and rituals over centuries. No European books are dedicated to your God. No statues of your Prophet (even if this were allowed) grace the Piazzas of our cities. Few if any Qur’anic phrases have entered our common parlance. We don’t celebrate your holy days, and have no regard for your heroes and saints.

You might reply that Hindu and Sikh mythologies do not inform our ways either, but then Hindus and Sikhs have proven themselves to be comfortable with that. I have never heard of an act of Hindu terrorism, nor any religiously-motivated outrage committed by a Sikh, Buddhist, Scientologist or Jain organisation. Islam has actively distinguished itself in violence, in readiness to fight and to make war where there is peace.

You are wrong if you take us for fools. We know well enough what the phrases Dar al-Harb and Dar al-Islam mean. We recognise the desire on your part to transfer us from one to the other and by what means. You must have known from the start that a project of this historical magnitude would be resisted with passion and fire. And, please believe me, that passion and fire is already generated in sufficient quantity should we ever be given the excuse to unleash it.

There are people on this (uniquely civilised) continent who would gladly slaughter you like dogs. It is not fantastical anymore to foresee a new Nazi movement emerging in Europe and going on to behave in a Hitlerian fashion. Nobody (save a few lunatics) wishes to go back there. Peace in Europe has been a blessing. Democracy is deserving of all the celebration dedicated to it. But your behaviour is testing the hold of democracy to its white-knuckled limits.

How then can we defuse this bomb? How might we organise a solution that forbids the need for mass violence and the self-destruction of democratic liberalism? This of course is the great question of my generation, and the most important task of the Western World, ahead of the environment, Russia, or any other exaggerated diversion.

That there is – or rather, that you are – an issue in need of resolution can no longer be sensibly denied. We are obliged by everything we hold dear to guarantee that the Islamisation of Europe ceases and that what progress it has already made is reversed. The Western way of life is not just ‘different’ to your own, but a million times superior. We are behaving very rationally by seeking to protect it.

Incidentally, you can deny this last fact as much as you want. It makes no difference to me. Deep down, beneath all the evasions and the layers of self-hypnosis, I’m sure you accept it as much as I do. If you didn’t, you wouldn’t still be here.

And that is the real, embarrassing truth, no? Whatever your friends have scrawled on placards in the past, you don’t ‘hate our way of life’ at all. You are simply jealous of it, and angry that your ancestral lands have failed – and are still failing – to develop in a like fashion.

For an effective and rapid solution to this problem, I propose the following measures – If you are brave, honest and intelligent enough to rid your mind of the numbing circularities of Islamic thinking, a space in the European future can and should be found for you. If not, and if you continue to display the toxic side effects of Islamic belief, then no more kid glove treatment should be forthcoming. If you espouse anti-Semitic, anti-Democratic and anti-Western ideas, you should be arrested and receive criminal records, with all the implications that has for finding employment, pursuing political office and securing tenancy and accommodation. The wearing of the Niqab must be outlawed and repeat offenders deported to a country where it is still the prevailing fashion. All Muslims involved in the mass-rape of British children must hang. Any Mosque preaching violence against Jews, Christians or Homosexuals must be shut down and demolished, and the same with colleges and Islamic faith schools. There must be an end to all immigration from Muslim countries, including from those cultures touted as exceptional (like Tunisia, Turkey or Iran). The culture of the West must be openly celebrated as the supreme culture of the world, and no ‘noble’ savagery must ever be taught as a desirable alternative to our children.

Our foreign policy must also be redesigned to reflect our desire to survive. Turkey should be expelled from NATO and replaced by Armenia. Any sanctions lifted from Iran must be reimposed. Investment in alternatives to Middle Eastern oil, including fracking (in lightly populated areas), fusion technology, nuclear and renewable energy must be radically increased. Western arms should only be exported to regimes which ruthlessly suppress Islamist activity (like Egypt and Jordan) and never to theocratic countries, whether ‘allies’ or not (Saudi, UAE, Kuwait etc…). Needless to say, our support for Israel must be great and unconditional.

In all these efforts, our motivating principle (and final goal) must be that Islam is forever segregated from the Western World.

Finally, reader, I promised at the beginning to tell you why it isn’t a humiliation for you to agree with my arguments… This is for the simple reason that you were a human being long before you were a Muslim, and this will always be the most salient fact about you. You are no more biologically predestined to ignorance and poverty than a Swede or a German. If you wish to become free, you can become free! And if you prefer slavery, well, then there is no defeat in relocating to pursue it, if that is your dream. There can no ‘shame’ in wanting to be where you belong. Nothing is more human.

Whichever condition you choose (and we will make you choose), understand that the West is the homeland of the free, the creative and the happy. A slave will always be foreign here.

Western Attention Deficit Disorder

Just over a year ago (last October) I wrote an article entitled ‘Is Jihadism Becoming Accepted?” (google to read it in full). After the Paris attacks of last week, and given the length and intensity of the reaction to them, I believe I am justified in recycling some quotes from it.

“During this process of Islamisation…” I began “…a good way of gauging the will to resist in the general population is to monitor the speed of recovery after each individual Muslim outrage; that is, how long it takes for the public to resume its usual apathetic mood after being shocked anew by a terror attack or comparable scandal involving Muslims…”

I then gave a brief history of terror outrages (against Western targets), noting that each reaction was briefer than the one before… “The pattern here is obvious: Years, then months, then weeks, then days… Jihadism – it seems – is becoming assimilated into everyday Western life. This is potentially devastating and for several reasons…Most of all it is because shock and anger are integral to the psychology of human resistance.”

Now, a question: Do you believe the reaction to the Paris attacks of this month has been more proactive, severe or long-lasting than the reaction to the Charlie Hebdo shootings of last January? Personally, I don’t believe so.

Indeed, facebook gimmicks and a few cruise missiles aside, there has been very few political consequences. While, for 24 hours or so, the world was undoubtedly transfixed on the Bataclan carnage, a few days more reduced the event to fish and chip paper. Compare this to the years of outrage over 9/11, the months of outrage over 7/7, the weeks of outrage over Lee Rigby, and the 5 or 6 days of outrage over Charlie Hebdo. While more people dislike – even hate – Muslims than ever before, there is a diminishing vibrancy and intelligence in their emotions. Perhaps needless to say, this is gravely worrying.

Whatever else can be said about Muslims, one cannot say that they are forgetful. Indeed, we are still being attacked in retribution for the re-conquest of Andalusia, the Balfour declaration and the publishing of the Satanic Verses. Muslims remember. They hold grudges. The Western mind, by contrast, is easier to distract than the mind of toddler loaded up on Jelly beans. Whether to facebook, twitter, youtube, xbox or football, Western attention flees from unpleasant realities, having given them only the briefest glance in the first place.

This must change if we are to survive. If terrorism becomes an accepted part of our culture and everyday lives, we will lose the will to do anything decisive or conclusive about it. Religious violence is not acceptable in the modern world, and nor is it inevitable, natural or ‘the way things go’. It is exceptional, horrid and shocking and must remain so to our imagination.

America Saves Europe (Again)

Europe today feels (or should feel) equal parts thankful and humiliated. America has come to our aid again, showing more bravery and decisiveness in an instant than we have shown in years.

On Friday, on a train travelling from Amsterdam to Paris, a Moroccan terrorist – armed with a Kalashnikov assault rifle and various other small arms – opened fire on random passengers. After being resisted unsuccessfully by several civilians, two off-duty marines (together with a third American) tackled the piece of filth, overpowering him (one marine getting shot for his troubles, and another being stabbed), trapping him in a chokehold until he lost consciousness. After the terrorist was incapacitated, other passengers piled on and the gunmen was disarmed and then tied up. It is believed – but not yet confirmed – that the Moroccan had ties to ISIS and had been on the radar of the French secret services for some time now.

What kind of tragedy was averted by this heroism? For an answer, we must cast our minds back to the Mumbai attacks in 2008, and specifically the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (railway station) shootings. On that occasion, two Kalashnikov-wielding terrorists managed to massacre 58 (fifty-eight) people before the attackers chose to leave the Terminus in search of more prey. Over 100 other civilians were also shot at the station but survived.

A Thalys high-speed train, like the one targeted on Friday, has a capacity of 377 seated passengers and well over 400 allowing for standing passengers. In reports issued since the attack was foiled, the service running that evening has been described as ‘packed’. We will assume for our purposes that the population of the train numbered at least 377.

A single attacker moving through packed carriages with a fully-automatic rifle could have quite easily killed a hundred people. Incapacitated by fear, femininity, old-age or childhood, many civilians would not have stood a chance against a young, fearless militant unconcerned with death and legal or moral repercussions. The security services on board we now know were cowering (cowering!) in their staff quarters, leaving no obvious impediment to the attacker other than a feat of spontaneous bravery, which, thank goodness, was forthcoming.

Even though it was averted, we should treat this attack as though it was successful This was an attempted assault by ISIS on the people of Europe. Those who believed ISIS could be quarantined to the Middle East must have this delusion beaten out of them. This is war, no less real than in 1939. A far-reaching licence of special powers must be granted to our governments until this threat is diminished to manageable proportions.

If any Muslim resident in Europe has suspected links to ISIS (and that can be as little as ‘liking’ ISIS propaganda on a facebook post), that is more than enough reason to deport him/her. Stop building Mosques. Stop all Muslim immigration (Bravo Slovakia!). Stop pandering to Muslim causes. Man the f*** up!

America (and the American spirit) will not always be there to defend us. We must develop that spirit within ourselves if we are to survive another millennium.

Varieties of Colonisation.

While all Western European nations are currently enduring a process of Islamisation, not all face the same kind of process. By this I mean that Europe is not facing conquest by a single race, nation or even Islamic school. There are varieties of colonisation, and it is important and worthwhile to look at each one in isolation.

Despite the end-point being the same in all cases, some of these processes are worse than others in the short term. Each Muslim sub-culture goes about Islamisation in a different way, with a different level of enthusiasm, with differing levels of unnecessary cruelty, and with a different potential for success.

Here then is an analysis of four cases, noting the character of each individual process and how they differ from each other.

Germany – Turkish Muslims.

Only 75 years ago, the city of Nuremburg was the setting for the National Socialist Party’s most glittering rallies. Red, white and black Swastika flags billowed sideways down the walls of banks, libraries and municipal offices. In public squares, speeches extolling notions of ethnic supremacy – or more specifically, of German supremacy – brought gathered crowds to a state of thoughtless euphoria. German-ness, Aryan-ness, and Nordic-ness ruled as unquestionable virtues, exalted above all other considerations.

Today, the city is ostensibly democratic, free and modern. There are no mad theories to intoxicate the public blasted from tannoy speakers; no banners with flashy symbols designed to replace the task of thinking. But there are also fewer and fewer Germans to be found.

Nuremberg is increasingly a Turkish city, with Turkish shops, Turkish eateries and a Turkish character. In a 2011 study, more than 37% of the urban population have an immigrant background, with Muslim Turks accounting for the vast majority.

A similar process has occurred in various other cities across the nation. There are now over 1,500,000 Turks resident in Germany and this population has a birth rate way in excess of the slovenly rates of the Germans themselves. In fact, this is worth recounting in detail. The birth rate for German natives is 1.4 children per woman. For Muslim Turks on the other hand, it is above replacement level (2.4). If that weren’t frightening enough, due to national infertility, the native German population is slated to decline every new decade, requiring – if the worker-retiree ration is to be maintained – yet more immigration. And where is the main source of that immigration predicted to be? (You guessed it) Turkey.

Now, while the Turks are not always as criminal and aggressive as other European Muslim populations, they do account for more crime than other citizens, and the meteoric rise in groups like Pegida testifies to the sheer panic running through the minds of native communities.

Unless Germany finds a way to reverse its demographic collapse, or (just as well) decides to turn to another source of human replenishment, the prospects of an enlightened, Judeo-Christian future there seem really rather dim.

The United Kingdom – Pakistani Muslims.

In case you are unaware, the British ‘commonwealth’ is a compensatory ’empire of consent’, chiefly maintained in order to keep alive the idea of British global influence. Of the many countries included in this club, most are pleasant enough (Canada, Australia, India etc..), but one or two have fared very badly under the conditions of self-rule. Unstable, barely democratic and economically barren, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan has undoubtedly fared the worst. For this reason, over time a very large (and fertile) contingent of Muslim Pakistanis have flocked to the shores of England (note: not Scotland, Northern Ireland or Wales). As recorded in 2011, there are 1,500,000 Pakistanis living in England and most are clustered in urban areas like Leicester, Bradford, Birmingham, Luton and metropolitan parts of Yorkshire.

I’ll pull no punches here. The Muslim Pakistani population of this country are its most disliked, in some cases detested, constituent. Mass rape, paedophilia, corruption, low-level crime, bullying, harassment, stalking, sexual intimidation, terrorism and racist anti-Kafir violence have collectively served to bar the integration of Muslim Pakistanis into English (or British) life.

Muslim Pakistanis in the UK are often radical, prone to extremist views and actions, and intent on cultural conquest. I would venture that they are far more disruptive to English life that the Turks in Germany are to German life. While German Turks are rarely found to be members of violent Jihadi groups, British Pakistanis are arrested every day for such membership. Reflecting this, the largest ‘European’ contingent in the Islamic State’s ranks are British and Pakistani.

France – Maghrebi Muslims.

When the French colonial grip on the nation of Algeria began to loosen, some Algerians (in the hope of a better life) began to migrate to the land of their colonial masters. Since then, they have been joined by millions of other Maghrebis (including Muslims from Morocco, Tunisia, Libya and Mauritania).

Today, the full figure of North African Muslims in France is unknowable, owing to a French ban on collecting ethnic data. Some estimates put the figure at 4 million, some at 5, others (on the political right) claim it could be as high as 8 million. Whatever the exact number, the transformation of many French cities is obvious and extreme. Marseille and Paris are dominated by immigrants. The number of Mosques in France is rapidly catching up with the number of churches. Despite a very brave and sensible ban, the veil is still a common sight in poorer suburbs.

Like British Pakistanis, the French North Africans have earned a solid reputation for aggressiveness and obedience to the criminal impulse. In 2005, much of urban France was set on fire, as Muslim youths rampaged through the streets of cities smashing buildings, vehicles and police officers (some – notably – shouting ‘Jihad!’ when doing so).

Despite this, and unlike UK Pakistanis, some North Africans in France have begun to integrate in recent years, much in the same way as African-Americans eventually integrated into America – that is, via sport, television and rap music.

Unlike the Arabs and Berbers, the French natives are increasingly atheistic and whether this makes Islamisation easier or more difficult remains to be seen. In my personal opinion, having a religious identity to defend is crucial if one is to resist conquest by another.

Sweden – Pick n’ Mix

By 2050, over one in ten Swedes will pray facing Makkah. This is an astonishing fact, and one that, only forty years ago, would have seemed absurdly dystopian. Unlike France, Germany and the UK, there is no single source of Muslim migration to Sweden. In the capital and in all major cities, one will find communities of Kurds, Iranians, Turks, Syrians, Pakistanis, Iraqis and North Africans.

This variety, though it may not seem as much now, is potentially good news for Sweden. As any worldly observer will realise, for Islamists to forge an Islamic coalition of Iranians and Arabs, Turks and Kurds, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis, Sunni with Shia, is a very tall order indeed. For that reason, I think Islamisation will be a fragmentary and slow process in Scandinavia, albeit one that must nevertheless be actively and energetically opposed.

Conclusion.

Based on a continent-wide analysis, the more homogenous the Islamising force a country faces, the greater the violence and cruelty will be along the process. In Britain, the Pakistani community are emboldened by their local homogeneity – something that allows for confidence and common aspiration against the interests of outer-communal rivals. The same is true in Germany with the Turkish community. If tensions between the Turks and the German police (which are already strained) inflame further, the Turks will be able to retaliate with a common front, potentially leading to ‘Bradford riots’ kind of scenario.

In France, the North Africans are socially merging with the Black Africans – with whom they already share many cultural traits. If this continues, Black Hip-Hop culture may in time dilute the commitment to Islamic virtues that are incompatible with it. If not, then the North Africans may find enough in common with each other to pursue a united Islamising effort.

Finally, Sweden, despite playing host to a massive and growing Islamic community, has not been transformed to the extent of Britain and France. This must be for a reason. The explanation I would advance is that inter-Islamic divisions (racial and theological) inflame just as much passion in Muslim migrants as does the division of Muslim and non-Muslim. While this is advantageous in the short term, the likely end result – namely, the formation of what Christopher Caldwell called a multi-ethnic ‘Team Islam’ – promises to be every bit as destructive as the homogenous conquests ongoing in other European societies.

Take Them Seriously.

Today, Western-located affiliates of the Islamic State (aka ISIS – aka ISIL) have posted onto the internet photographs (taken by themselves) of tourist spots in various European cities. In the picture above, the card held in front of the camera warns that “We (ISIS) are in your streets” and was taken in the Italian Capital, Rome.

This (in my opinion) should be enough to trigger a state of emergency, one that allows for drastic police actions and the suspension of normal order. Given the nature of the enemy and its ambition, the presence of ISIS-affiliated fighters in Europe demands serious and immediate precautionary measures from our security services.

None will be forthcoming of course, and the reason? We can never take a threat seriously anymore. Our defensive reflexes are worn out, drained of their former vitality.

I write this fully aware that it is futile. I do it simply because I don’t want to feel any guilt when the treasures of Rome become like the treasures of Nineveh.

If We Do Nothing.

Although I write in favour of European self-rescue, it should be clarified that I am under no illusions as to the likelihood of the measures required being adopted, now or in the future.

The chances, to put the matter frankly, of persuading an indoctrinated population to do something they have been conditioned – often since childhood – to regard as sinful, are zero.

Europe’s rescue from Islamisation requires discrimination, on both national and local stages. At the national level, every government must realise that the needs of its historic majority are more its rightful business than the ‘rights’ of a swelling and hostile minority. At the local level meanwhile, people must learn to recognise human difference as something vital to their personal security.

Discrimination however, is – perhaps more than anything else – anathema to the liberal mind. Consequently, even if the thought of European Muslims being sent their deportation papers may thrill the imagination, that is almost certainly where it will remain.

Muslim immigration will probably be halted the first day after the collapse of the European Union, but that will only deal with a hypothetical inflow and will solve nothing as to those already settled. On this point, the most likely scenario is that those Muslims who already live here (and their posterity) will be part of Europe forever.

Sure, the natives will thrash and moan a bit as each demographic milestone is met with grim punctuality; 15%… 20%… 25% etc… But these will be mere imitations of self-confidence, and of those historic conditions that once permitted self-confidence. Much like the re-enactments of medieval battles on a wet Tuesday in Bosworth, these will be resistance-themed carnivals, hemmed in by police and finally dispersed by reality.

True, it is unlikely that Muslims will capture all of Europe, but it is now almost certain that they will conquer its capitals and other large cities. The demographic material is already in place for the Islamisation of London, Brussels, Stockholm, Oslo, Paris, Berlin, Duisburg, Leicester, Malmo, Marseilles, Luton, Strasbourg, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, the Hague and the urban parts of Switzerland.

These are all famous and historic places, decorated with treasures invaluable to world-history. What will happen to them when they are populated almost exclusively by Muslims?

Students of Asia’s modern history will be familiar with the fate of the Buddhas of Bamiyan; an ancient relic of pre-Islamic culture in Central Afghanistan. As is now notorious, the structure was exploded and the relics entirely destroyed by Taliban militants in 2001.

Just imagine that – the scene and all its details  – for a moment. Picture it in your mind. Now – if you can – try to impose that image onto Rome, London, Paris or Berlin.

Instead of the Buddhas being demolished, imagine the Roman Colosseum, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, or the Eiffel Tower subjected to the same misfortune.

I can assure you these are not outlandish thoughts. Despite popular misunderstanding of the matter, the 9/11 hijackers did not target the Twin Towers out of hatred of American ‘economic power’. They were rather acting in line with the Qutbist condemnation of idolatry. In Wahhabi Islamism, any great man-made structure that attracts wonder or praise, and that is not built expressly for Islamic worship, is an idol. This is why the Twin Towers were brought low. This is also why the Saudi government – with the consent of the Wahhabist religious establishment – has demolished many ancient buildings connected with the life of Mohammad in Mecca and Medina. Mohammad, you see, is not regarded by Muslims as divine, and therefore any pilgrimage to, or veneration of artifacts associated with him is also considered idolatrous.

The Pentagon too, is an idol. It was built to symbolize the power of the American military – the power therefore of ‘men’, and was attacked for these reasons.

One cannot exactly estimate how many of the cultural treasures of Europe would also be considered idolatrous according to this same measure, but surely if the artifacts of Mohammad himself are not considered sacred, then why would the Brandenburg Gate be afforded any mercy?

A successful Muslim conquest of Europe will reset European history at year zero. History shall not be so much as changed, as removed entirely. Europe will be forced to forget itself; that it ever had a history to begin with; just as the Egyptians were made to forget their past, as were the Persians, the Phoenicians, the Babylonians and the Berbers, after they too fell to armies of Muslim conversion.

Away from cultural symbols, the mechanics of society will be greatly affected. Sharia courts will proliferate across Europe (whether governments allow them or not). Genital mutilation will continue in private. In the open, women will be assaulted on an increasing scale. Rape rates will skyrocket. Whatever pretentions a rational feminism ever had will be driven to extremism or else submission. Harassment will forbid native European women from urban centres and thus from commercial employment.

Elsewhere, shops selling alcohol will be vulnerable to attack and boycott. Terror-threats will paralyze subways. Every time Israel defends itself in the Middle East, anti-Semitism will become a violent reality.

There are potential military consequences too. The influential blogger Fjordman has commented on the dire possibility of French nuclear weapons falling into Muslim hands. I’m afraid it isn’t a fanciful idea. All it would take is one rogue Franco-Algerian general and Europe would be under a shadow of destruction.

All that for the false virtue of blind tolerance…

Pessimism like this is not an admirable trait, I know, but it is nevertheless appropriate to the situation Europe finds itself in. I see no sign of a popular movement able to achieve anything of substance on this issue. The EDL is all but finished. UKIP, the party in which so many good people invest their hopes, is practically neutral on the culture clash, preferring to badmouth Poles and Romanians than Pakistanis. In the Netherlands, Geert Wilders was trounced in the national elections. Where now?

As I say, this is a depressing post, but I do believe it pays to periodically remind oneself of the stakes of doing nothing.
