Illegal-Immigration-495x340

It was of course inevitable that the great nation of Slovakia would one day perform a feat of political daring bold enough to inspire Europe as a whole. The only wonder is how long we have had to wait for it. Now it is here, let us savour it and seek to deepen its impact.

As you’ll be aware, the Slovakian government announced last week that its country will only be accepting Christian refugees fleeing the Syrian civil war, and not Muslims. You’ll also be aware that this then led to kind of acrobatic stupidity only Western governments appear to be capable of.

“The attitude underlying this is to be condemned.” One EU drone remarked “It is unhelpful and does not display solidarity.”

In saying this, the drone was compacting the general response of the EU establishment. By staggering coincidence, it is also the view of the European business elites, globalist charities, humanitarian lobby groups, and (of course) the establishment media.

But outside this bubble of cheerful unaccountability, most reactions to the Slovakian stance have been extremely positive. Wherever the story has ben reported in the English press, the reader comments underneath each individual article salute and commend the Slovakian government for its bravery, timeliness and fidelity to the wishes of the Slovakian electorate. Often tacked on to the end of these commendations are hopes and wishes (against all odds) that other European states will follow suit, including – perchance –  the regimes of Western Europe. Needless to say, such fantasies are just that – fantasies.

In the face of EU criticism, Slovakia has justified its policy in the following way: Slovakia is a Christian country. There are no Mosques or Madrassas in Slovakia, nor are there Muslim schools or traditions compatible with the Muslim experience. Muslims therefore wouldn’t like it in Slovakia. They are being denied access to Slovakia as much for their own good as for the good of the native population.

I know what you’re thinking. If only our government had reasoned the same fifty years ago. How much trouble, bloodshed, innocence and economic disruption would have been spared?! As the Slovaks have shown, all it would have taken was a bit of (inoffensive) common sense.

It is of course far too late for our own countries to use this elementary good judgement, or at least to endorse it in the shrugging, devious and friendly manner in which the Slovaks have. We are five decades too late, and while other countries can get away with being sensible, it is no longer a luxury we can afford.

Given this reality, out of the hundreds of thousands of Syrian and Eritrean Muslims currently trekking across the green fields of Europe, I suspect a great proportion will eventually live in English neighbourhoods, their progeny eventually attending English schools, voting in English elections, and (some of them) going on to violently avenge English foreign policy.

All the while, Slovakia will carry on – grinning, living, persisting – as if nothing had ever happened. There has surely never been a greater, more saddening illustration of the failure of the European idea.

Last week a reader drew my attention to the suffering of a young Christian Pakistani girl called Asia Bibi. Ms Bibi, as you may already be aware (it is to my shame that I was not), is currently in prison facing the frighteningly common charge of ‘blaspheming the Prophet Muhammad’, a charge she denies.

According to ChristianToday: “Bibi was accused of blasphemy in Pakistan for sharing her faith in God to other women… She was then sentenced to death, although an appeal has been filed at the Supreme Court with no news yet on when her case will be heard. But time is running out for the Christian woman since her health has been steadily declining… She’s suffering from internal bleeding. She requires urgent medical treatment. She vomits blood. She suffers terrible pain, and she can hardly eat.”

Though pressure is being relentlessly applied by Christian organisations and charities in the West, Ms Bibi’s fate remains uncertain. Many have been punished viciously for the same ‘crime’ before, and since Ms Bibi herself is surely aware of this, one can only attempt to imagine the mental torment she must be experiencing. In July of this year, Pakistani authorities announced that the death sentence is ‘suspended’, but this is subject to challenge from the country’s powerful religious establishment. As of the time of writing, Ms Bibi is in limbo.

Of course, this story will not surprise any regular visitor of this site. We all know well enough the reality of Islam and its relations with competing belief systems. Those who wish Ms Bibi to die are being entirely faithful to the commandments of Islamic law and follow a precedent dating back to the Islamic Salaf (the early companions of the Prophet). This is what Islam does. We have no right to recoil in shock anymore.

But it is nevertheless worth remarking – in case there remains any doubt – that cases like this wholly exonerate the West from any obligation to uphold or respect ‘multiculturalism’ for the benefit of Muslims. Since Muslims themselves reject and despise the idea of multiculturalism, why on Earth should we allow them to enjoy its privileges?

Years ago in America, during the white heat of the ‘Ground Zero Mosque’ controversy, the host of Fox’s satirical ‘Red-eye’ show was dead on the nail when he proposed that the mosque should only go ahead if a Synagogue was built in Mecca (the source of much of the project’s funds) first.

It really is as simple as that. Quid pro quo. Like for like.

Multiculturalism is not the natural state of the world. It is a modern invention, the product of a warped and unaccountable academia. It is unique to the industrialised West and considered bizarre and self-destructive to every nation outside of it. Japan wouldn’t allow a Mosque to be built in the shade of a Shinto Shrine. Saudi Arabia wouldn’t allow a Synagogue to be built in the shade of a Mosque. Only the West remains open to all and sundry. Is that fair?

No, simply put, it isn’t, and so a shift in policy is long overdue. No more Mosques in the Western World. If the Muslim world will not tolerate Christianity, the West has the right to expel Islam wholly from its midst.

Korea: Trip Report.

So I’ve been in Korea for a week, partly as a vacation and partly as a trip to explore the prospect of work and/or emigration. All in all, it’s been highly enjoyable. My hotel was great. Local transport has been first-class. The weather is too much for an Englishman of course, but then we’d probably find Finland oppressively balmy so I won’t dwell on that.

I’ve wanted to visit Asia (by which I mean East-Asia) for quite some time. Having earned a degree in International Politics, I have more than once dipped my head into articles predicting the collapse of the Western era and the inauguration of something longer lasting and less round-eyed.

Most enquiries in this vein concentrate on the rise of China, which is understandable but nevertheless provides a restricted view of what is happening. Looking at things more broadly, one can clearly see that it isn’t just the Chinese but the Asian cultural model that is working better than the Western equivalent, at least as it relates to economic well-being. Distinctions between Korea, China, Japan and Singapore are hardly thin on the ground, and some have even translated into bloodshed in the past, but more unites than divides these societies and they remain kindred, just as former combatants in the West like France and Germany, Britain and Italy etc… are nevertheless of the same type.

The Asian social model can be summarised by the following priorities:

1. Personal Health. 2. The absence of ideological politics. 3. A passive foreign policy. 4. Low to zero immigration. 5. The principle of orderliness as integral to social membership/denial of social membership for bohemian or unorthodox personalities.

These five principles explain much of the distinction Korea enjoys.

Health in particular is central to public life here. Korean foods, even snack foods, advertise themselves primarily by reference to their nutritional content. A pot of Gummy bears at the supermarket was branded ‘Calcium and Vitamin D health bears’. Korean Red Bull-type energy drinks are infused with Ginseng, vasolidating herbs and assorted minerals. It is very difficult to buy a bottle of water from a vending machine that isn’t either packed with health-boosting additives or spiked with nootropics.

In keeping with this expectation of fitness, health-deviants are treated with a routine contempt. Outside the airport, the booth known as the ‘smoker’s booth’ was actually a transparent box making those who ventured inside look like captured zoo animals. Obesity is rare among the young. Drug addiction meanwhile leads directly to unemployment. Alcohol is widely promoted but usually only privately and moderately consumed. Homeless people (if they exist) seem to be invisible. I was never once approached by a beggar, drug pusher or prostitute.

It seems in Korea, the fat and bones of modernity have been excised completely from the meat.

For these reasons and more, Conservatives tend to love Korea, and many wish to redesign the West according to its socio-economic model. Even on the ethno-nationalist right, the country has its admirers. Fruitloop Viking Anders Breivik made numerous references to the country in ‘2083’, and some of the fanatics on Stormfront.com suggest postponing the Rahowa genocide of Asians indefinitely or even endorse a strategic (but temporary) Asian-Aryan alliance against the Jewish-led army of Niggers and Spics. In the subculture of race-hate, this is no small compliment.

Having been here a week, it is very difficult to revise my draft evaluation of Korea as clean, hyper-modern and inspirational. Having said that, am I sad to leave? Not really.

For all its shiny modernity, Korea (and Koreans) lack something vitally important – salt. Before you call for men in white coats, let me explain…

VDare columnist John Derbyshire likes to use an expression to both summarise and satirize the liberal rationale for multiculturalism. He calls it the ‘salt in the stew’ argument. This view holds that societies made up of only one type are boring and tasteless and that a small amount of diversity makes them more palatable, much like salt does to staple foods. Of course, as Derbyshire never fails to note – ‘if you add too much salt then you’ve wrecked the stew’, but you follow his point.

You really couldn’t find a better illustration of a blandly saltless stew than Korea. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not suggesting the country import a boatload of Somalians and Pakistanis, but a few Germans, Australians, Jews and Italians wouldn’t go amiss. Even in Seoul, it took me an absurdly long time to find a shop selling non-Korean food and the dodgy looks one receives for not being Korean are impolite and intimidating. Isolation of the foreigner seems almost traditional here, and so those lacking Korean genetic markers tend to band together by necessity. When I ended up sharing a lift with an American, we greeted each other like long-lost friends.

It’s true of course that the West can learn a lot from Asia. As demographics shift in Europe and America in the future, we will quickly get used to a feeling of selective envy towards our East Asian friends. Complaints about the high-wall of Asian immigration policy may become commonplace in Europe and Asian cultural chauvinism will rise a matching pace. But for now, don’t despair. We still possess an edge. Our music is better. Our sense of humour is too. Our literature (especially in England) is of a higher order and the same is true of our television, news coverage and commentary. Given our better-developed tradition of individualism, we are also more artistically creative than Asians, and most Asian cultural exports (K-POP, drama, comedy etc…) are just factory bootlegs of our own initiatives.

Still, if you’re tempted to visit Korea (or Japan, which is also on my visit list), you probably won’t regret it. It’s a good country to experience for a week or so, and you may well leave comforted that although some of the stereotypes of Asian excellence are well-founded, the West still remains in front.

For now at least.

We Are Not Wrong about Pakistan.

Peter Oborne, the lonely iconoclast at the staid and tedious Daily Telegraph, posted an article the other day that has since been shared over 22,000 times.

The title of this article is a question – ‘Are we wrong about Pakistan?’, and the answer Oborne supplies thereafter is a resounding ‘Yes’.

Reporting back from a visit to Lahore, the veteran hack said the following –

“I had been dispatched to write a report reflecting the common perception that Pakistan is one of the most backward  and savage countries in the world. This attitude has been hard-wired into Western reporting for years and is best summed up by the writing of the iconic journalist Christopher Hitchens… Since my first night in a Lahore restaurant I have travelled through most of Pakistan, got to know its cities, its remote rural regions and even parts of the lawless north….the Pakistan that is barely   documented in the West – and that I have come to know and love – is a wonderful, warm and fabulously hospitable country. And every writer who (unlike Hitchens), has ventured out of the prism of received opinion and the suffocating five-star hotels, has ended up celebrating rather than denigrating (the country).”

Needless to say, traditional Telegraph readers were less than impressed by all this. I can appreciate the sentiment.

What Mr Oborne appears to be confusing is the notion of a country that welcomes tourist income, and one which is a pleasure to live in.

There is no sane Westerner alive who would relocate to Pakistan, especially after having become accustomed to European society. None at all. And indeed, emigration rates (excepting Pakistanis themselves) reflect this. When these are compared against immigration rates, the case could hardly be more starkly presented.

There are over 4,000,000 Pakistanis living in Europe and America as of 2013, whilst the number of non-Pakistani origin Westerners upping sticks for the Indus Valley can be counted on your fingers.

Let’s not pretend we don’t know the reason for this. Despite Pakistan’s natural beauty (which I don’t doubt for a second), the country is one of the most corrupt and unfree on the planet. Even those smiling and civilized folk who showed Mr Oborne to his gin cabinet will no doubt derive from tyrannical extended families who themselves are mere cogs in a gruesome machine of tribal repression extending across the country.

True, Pakistan may be hospitable to white, wealthy journalists, but perhaps next time Mr Oborne should try visiting disguised as a Shia Muslim. Perhaps the welcome in that case would have a more foreboding and funereal character.

When discussing Pakistan, there are some in the CounterJihad tendency who claim partition – the separation of what has become ‘Pakistan’ from India – as a disaster. I disagree.

India, let’s not forget, is a nascent regional superpower and without the cessation of Pakistan, there would have likely emerged a Muslim majority there some time this century. This would have imposed serious geopolitical consequences on the South-Asia/Greater Middle East locale.

There are reasons to be grateful for Pakistan therefore, but in the greater scheme of things, its critics, Mr Oborne, are far from wrong.

What Does Japan Think of Us?

Do you ever wonder what people in the Future World (East Asia) think of the implosion of the Old (Western) World? I do.

They don’t like to dwell on it much, but many European Conservatives imagine the Chinese, Japanese and others are quietly gloating and sniggering behind our backs. This is wholly wrong, I think. It’s far more likely that East Asians are fundamentally confused by our behavior.

Take for example, the great nation of Japan.

Japan is a country experiencing a similar demographic collapse to that of Europe. As with Germans, Danes and Swedes, the Japanese birth-rate has been below ‘replacement level’ for some years now. Old people are multiplying, young people are growing scarcer.

But despite this, Japan’s culture remains curiously intact, whereas European society is becoming a three way division of Unemployed Whites, ghettoized Africans, and hostile Muslims.

I’m not going to patronize you, dear reader, by pondering ‘why’ this is the case. We both know well enough about the policy of ‘multiculturalism’, its origin and ill-effects.

What is worth pondering is what exactly Japanese people think when they see what (from a distance) must look like deliberate cultural suicide?

What do they think of riots on the streets of London, or tube-bombings, Muslim rape gangs, veils, honour killings, flash mobs and police ‘no-go areas’?

They must believe we’ve lost our senses.

According to some, Japan considered adopting the ‘Western model’ for itself at one point. It discarded the idea after observing its violent fruit on the streets of America, Britain and other less well-advised countries.

So maybe there’s a comforting thought to conclude with. Even if not ourselves, at least our policies have benefited someone.

2030: How to Depress Yourself by Thinking about the Future.

The descent of ethnic Europeans into panda-like sterility isn’t something which merits further analysis. We know the facts well enough. Numbers and statistics can be summoned quickly from the internet. Few measures can now be implemented to reverse the decline, and no energy is apparent to mount an effort anyway.

What can still be said of value then, must leave the domain of facts and enter the zone of speculation. Let’s construct (for the sake of amusement) a dystopia and see what options will be available to liberal Europeans (and by this I include all European-born non-Muslims), in the projected near-future.

Position your imagination the following way: It is 2030. London by this time is 60% Islamic and riddled with all the ‘enrichments’ of the faithful. Asian populations formerly limited to East London now stretch imperiously into Essex and Kent. Those believers based in Croydon are claiming ground southwards into rural Surrey and Sussex.

White refugees from most of the English inner-cities are moving en masse to old-age retirement colonies along the southern coastline. Younger White families are moving to rural Wales and Cumbria.

In America, the levers of cultural and political power lie firmly in the hands of an African-Hispanic coalition. Elderly Whites are dying off in their tens of thousands. Increasing temperatures and rates of crime make urban environments impossible terrain for the over fifties, meaning that every city of national importance is now under minority rule.

Every week a new ‘White terrorist’ is arrested after plotting gun rampages against immigrant communities. Al-Qaeda is a distant memory. White men over fifty are now public enemy number one.

As all media bends eventually to the force of money, the post-Murdoch Fox News Network, once so firmly allied to the White male, now deals only in racially neutral issues like abortion and local government. Most of its presenters are Hispanic.

Mexicans cross the Southern border at their leisure, while in the north, Canada beefs up its own border security, concerned at the illegal entry of American Whites.

The population of Russia is significantly smaller than what it was in the year 2000. One third of Russia’s population is now Islamic, and Muslims enjoy increasing influence upon its national and foreign policy…..

There. That should cheer you up.

I’m afraid that not one of these dystopian predictions is infeasible. Indeed, the worst-case-scenarios of experts far exceed the ideas above. Consequently, it is well worth asking the question sooner rather than later:

What will you do in such a world? Where will you go?

A bizarre consensus has developed on the internet (especially in the context of the Islamisation of Europe) according to which the only sanctuary in which Western Civilization can survive the coming upheaval, is not to be found in Europe, Asia, or North America… but Australasia.

Time and time again when chatting to like-minded people on Facebook, I find the closing comment on a long thread to be a variant of the following: “Well, whatever happens. There’s always Australia. We can ultimately move there.”

Perhaps it’s not intended as seriously as I take it, but this nevertheless seems a very depressing strain of defeatism. Australia is a beautiful country, wonderfully diverse (and I use that word in its original naturalist sense), teeming with optimistic, talented and pleasant people. But is that really the answer?

It seems, for thousands of Brits, that yes it is. Increasing numbers of English, Scottish and Welsh families are choosing to expose themselves to the notoriously stringent examinations of the Australian Immigration Board every year, and that number is projected to climb consistently for the foreseeable future.

Other than Australia, some people predict an exodus of Europeans to Canada: an even vaster landmass, and one with a more European climate. Others suggest New Zealand. Some even point to the vast ice-fields of Greenland.

Personally, I don’t believe that these are the natural options at all, or at any rate those which will be pursued by progressive youth when the time comes.

In 2030, I will be 46 years of age. Still a young-ish bloke then, with at least the physical and emotional fitness to leave a sinking ship. If the predictions of the great ‘Islamophobes’ (Mr Steyn, Ms Geller etc…) prove correct, and if the liberal West fails to mount an effective resistance in the meantime, my plan is to migrate to Latin America: the vastest cultural territory in the world to remain free of Islamisation, and one of the last and greatest hopes for the survival of European(ish) culture.

Still, maybe all this speculation is fanciful. Our elites might see the light sooner than we imagine. But when I hear that Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller are being denied entry into my country on the grounds of ‘cultural cohesion’, and at the same time read reports of local soldiers not going out on their own at night to ‘avoid being beheaded’, I can’t help feeling we’re already too far down the road to hit reverse.
