v2-Anjem-Choudary

From relatively modest beginnings, ‘English’ hate-preacher Anjem Choudary has risen through the ranks of evil to become the star of the British tabloid press. After the hook-handed, one-eyed nightmare Abu Hamza was carted off to America to face overdue terror charges, and the equally horrific cleric Abu Qatada was deported to Jordan for similar offences, the red-top media has had to rely almost entirely on Choudary to provide their readers’ daily fill of anger and indignation.

If you sense a cynical tone in my words, you are right on the nail. The transformation of radical Islam into a pantomime, complete with quasi-humorous oddball villains is a very dangerous and inappropriate game in my view. No issue is more serious or more threatening to our country than Islam, and the reality is far darker than low-risk, smooth-talking pieces of shit like Choudary would suggest.

Serious (active) Jihadis don’t appear in documentaries, and nor do they jostle for supremacy with Sean Hannity and Pamela Geller in Fox News debate shows. They keep their rotten little heads down and plot the murder of women and children – that’s what they do. The people waving placards suggesting the murder of the Pope are usually cowards who do not have the courage of their own hideous convictions. Anjem Choudary fits that definition perfectly.

Choudary is certainly an Islamist (and an enemy of the West), but unlike some of his peers, he is a fundamentally spineless. He has never directly taken part in terrorist attacks (which, though nefarious, must involve a willingness to tolerate pain and the loss of liberty). Despite suggesting that others do so, he has refused to join his brothers in the ranks of ISIS, a refusal that makes no sense if one believes his claim to agree with their agenda. For all his hostility towards the British state, he continues to live off the British taxpayer, receiving thousands upon thousands in benefits every year. And according to certain reports (most of which he has denied), he cannot even resist the pleasures of secularism, like alcohol and casual sex with native women.

Choudary is a gigantic fraud and a gutless nobody. He doesn’t incite outrage to promote or protect Islam, but solely because he enjoys the limelight. Like a twisted Islamic Katie Hopkins, Choudary thrives on column inches and airtime, regarding himself as heroically honest, brutally articulate and historically essential.

Even Muslims are beginning to see through the act. I have read numerous accusations on social media alleging that Choudary is a state agent, hired by MI5 to whip up hostility against the Religion of Peace. He isn’t, of course. But the fact such accusations can be brought to mind is further evidence of his ideological amateurishness.

As you’ll be aware, Mr Choudary was arrested this past week on charges of encouraging support for Islamic State. While this is good news, I doubt it will lead to a satisfactory conclusion of the Choudary saga. The only fitting end would be the exile of this fake, freedom-loving con-artist to the cultural and economic wilderness he pretends to prefer.

Sharia-zone-4X3

Last year, it was reported in the media that groups of Muslims were patrolling the streets of North and East London with a view to deterring what they considered ‘un-Islamic’ behaviours. These so-called ‘Muslim patrols’ were said to harass local people for such crimes as openly carrying alcohol or looking as if one had consumed it, eating pork, or (as regards women) dressing in a manner unsuited to the expectations of Sharia.

Whilst these patrols have since faded from the news headlines, the response they provoked remains very much alive. For many months now, ‘Christian patrols’ have walked the same areas of London at night ready to oppose acts of Muslim intimidation. Many – if not all – of these demonstrations are organised by nationalist organisations like Britain First, and most of the volunteers are former or current members of the EDL.

Now, while as a Londoner I like very much the idea of direct action, I feel rather ambivalent about some of the details here. One has to wonder whether a ‘Christian patrol’ has within it a different, corrosive potential.

I’ve said before that the answer to Radical Islam is not Radical Christianity. We don’t want to become the kind of crusader civilisation the blockheads of ISIS imagine we already are. A state run along theocratic lines would be as undesirable with blue-eyed, Dutch enforcers as with enforcers of any other kind. The dark age in the West was every bit as savage and untenable as that which envelopes the Muslim world today.

Still, (and here I suppose I flirt with ‘hate-speech’) one must be honest and say that intimidation (as an idea) is not something to necessarily throw out with the bathwater.

It is (in my opinion) only appropriate that a Muslim feel the same discomfort walking down a Western high street in a burka as I would feel walking down a Saudi high street with a hot dog. I don’t belong there and they don’t belong here. Everything they stand for, we oppose. Everything they oppose, we embrace. This is the most straightforward clash of cultures since the British army faced the Zulu.

We must make Muslims uncomfortable and also make them understand beyond any doubt that their acts of violence can be repaid in kind at short notice. Even in London, we still retain the numerical advantage. If they amass against us, how much more convincingly can we amass against them?

The valuable minorities of London are far from wedded to their current alliance with the Muslims. The Black community understands deep-down that Islam would outlaw many of their cultural (and subcultural) practices and that they could only ever be second-class soldiers in any future alliance with it. The most rational interests of the Jews and Hindus are likewise inclined to our cause.

So let’s upgrade the concept of a Christian Patrol to something more universal; a Western Patrol, primed and ready to defend our rights and pleasures by all means.

I’m not a completely literary animal. I am a young man and physical confrontation, with its bruises, shocks of pain and thrilling pulse, is something I rather enjoy. We can’t possibly shy away from it. If we do, our streets will fall to those who do not.

Jeremy-Kyle-001

I was passing time on YouTube the other day, when I noticed a link in the sidebar to a clip of the Jeremy Kyle Show.

For those who don’t know, the Jeremy Kyle programme is (while ostensibly a talk-show) really a crude exhibition of the trashiest members of British society airing each morning on the ITV channel. In a typical episode, members of the English underclass (some of them astonishingly unkempt) are wheeled on to defend their benefit-fuelled affairs, hit-and-run impregnations and habitual drug abuse. The host (Mr Kyle) is an aggressive moral-majority type, with (for all his faults) a commendable bravery in confronting his subjects.

The clip I was directed to featured a young Northern man who was charged with beating his pregnant girlfriend, at times kicking her in the stomach. The male was a Muslim (probably of Pakistani origin) called Fakir, and in the course of the show (link below) he revealed himself to be of the purest evil imaginable.

When questioned whether he beat his (White) partner, Fakir didn’t bother to deny the charge. In fact, he found it hard to stop laughing at the issue, apparently surprised at the swelling chorus of hatred within the audience. When pressed to elaborate, his excuses never extended beyond a claim his girlfriend (who throughout the course of the programme appears utterly broken in spirit) had ‘annoyed’ him.

This isn’t the kind of programme to ordinarily affect my emotions. Shows like the Kyle programme are usually too fake, too orchestrated, too manhandling of the viewer’s mood to take seriously. But when I studied Fakir – his facial expressions, posture and accent – a host of thoughts began to swarm around my mind, quite foreign to my personality. Goulish thoughts – like how satisfying it would be to hurt that man; to kick him, or beat him into a deep coma.

His giggling evil; his skinny, pathetically unmanly frame; his complete lack of conscience or moral orientation… These elements all combined to light the fire inside me.

I’m aware that such thoughts should never be entertained. The law is surely the only protection we have left against bacteria like Fakir. But never let it be argued that the hostile sentiment amassing against Muslims in Britain is a purely native initiative. Brits would scarcely be human to avoid feeling burning revulsion at these creatures. They are constructing their own detention centres. They are energising their own tormentors and preparing the conditions for their wholesale removal.

I have no idea if Fakir will ever read this. But on the off chance he googles himself and finds this blog, let me say this: We are rapidly losing patience with this kind of abuse. There is only so much we will take, and you will not be forgotten when the time comes to arrange a lasting justice.

Muslims Vs Roma in Page Hall.

The other day, I watched a BBC documentary entitled ‘Police Under Pressure: Uneasy Peace’ which documented the escalating tensions between the settled communities of Page Hall in Sheffield, and the thousands of Slovakian Roma who have arrived in the area over recent years.

I was already passingly familiar with the issue. The situation has enjoyed a national prominence ever since it was mentioned by (now retired) MP David Blunkett, who famously warned that ‘riots’ are a possible consequence if the government fails to address local concerns. Though he was roundly criticised for ‘scaremongering’, the documentary (if it is to be believed) demonstrates that his concerns were and are well founded.

The Page Hall district of Sheffield has traditionally been divided between White Britons and British born Pakistanis. The Roma were added to this stew only recently and have quickly become unpopular with both locals and police.

So controversial has their behaviour been in fact, that they have pressed together the Pakistanis and Whites into a strange and very untypical alliance. Reflecting this, the documentary featured many instances of Pakistanis adopting the language of the indigenous far-right. “I’ve got more rights (than them). I was born here. British born and bred. I’m proud of it.” one Asian male barked to police officers after a night of low-level disorder. Another compared the Slovakians to ‘rats’, while another predicted ‘World War 3’ if the police failed to disperse the crowds of Roma children playing on their street at night.

In case you should doubt the scale of what we’re talking about, here (unbelievably) is the Guardian:

“Nobody knows for sure how many Roma people have come to Sheffield since Slovakia joined the EU in 2004. The council’s best guess is that 1,500 eastern European Roma children now live in the city as a whole, with around 500 in the small Page Hall area. Miroslav Sandor, a Roma community worker in Page Hall, gives a much higher estimate. He thinks there may be 600-900 large families in the city… Though the migrants come and go, the flow is predominantly in one direction. Three buses run by Interbus make the 30-hour journey overland from Slovakia to Sheffield each week but just two go back in the other direction.”

The right-wing press has spoken (as one might expect) rather more frankly. Joe Shute in the Telegraph described the situation as follows:

“The atmosphere is poisonous, a breeding ground for trouble. Roma youths and adults hang around in groups, dozens at a time throughout the day and night. Rumours swirl between them and the Pakistani and white community, with each blaming the other for fuelling drugs, prostitution, and the increase of rubbish. There have been numerous reported fights. One Pakistani shopkeeper’s wife had her hand broken in a recent altercation with Roma youths… The community feels at breaking point. “When it goes off, it will be like an atom bomb here,” a shopkeeper warns as he picks up a broken glass bottle from the street. A group of Roma youths swagger past. Nobody looks anybody in the eye.”

To further complicate this stand-off, the documentary later featured a march by the English Defence League – ostensibly about the conversion of a local pub into a mosque (embarrassingly for the EDL, it was later decided to convert the building into a KFC) – but more likely held to protest the Islamisation of the area in general. The march was planned to kettle at the border of a mixed Muslim-White area of the district. Frustratingly, the position of the EDL in regard to the Roma population was never investigated.

As a phenomenon, this is broader than England of course. The Romani (or ‘Gypsy’) community are becoming a heated topic of debate across Europe. In the larger Spanish cities, tensions arising from Romani immigration have been markedly severe. France meanwhile is still convulsing from a national scandal involving the beating to death by vigilantes of a Romani teenager suspected of burglary.

I can’t say I’m wholly innocent of the ill-feeling either. Like most Londoners, it has become almost second nature to me to avoid cashpoints whenever there are unaccompanied brown children nearby.

But talking about Romani immigration is naturally far more difficult than discussing the obvious disadvantages of Muslim settlement. Given the revolting treatment of Romani Europeans in World War II, one will always run the risk of unknowingly quoting Heinrich Himmler.

As to Page Hall specifically – and though they might be enjoying themselves immensely – I would also warn the Muslim community to refrain from using terms like ‘rats’ and ‘World War III’. An occasion may come for these words, but it’s unlikely to involve Slovakians.

When the Manchester United football team play Manchester City, a physical crowd of 70,000 people is these days almost guaranteed. A similar number can be expected at other rivalrous matches like Everton Vs Liverpool, Celtic vs Glasgow Rangers, Tottenham vs Arsenal, and Chelsea vs Human Decency.

These crowds are not drawn by the promise of entertainment (or at least not by that alone) but by emotion and genuine sentimentality.

Tens of thousands of people, young and old, male and female, show up at football stadiums periodically to unload the kind of hatred, loyalty and aggression that was, perhaps only 70 years ago, confined entirely to the battlefield.

And as on the battlefield, the entrenchment of division over extended periods of time has spilled naturally over into personal animosity. Manchester United fans – for example – are known to detest their Manchester City rivals with a racial intensity, often leading to acts of deranged, pointless violence. The same is true of the other examples mentioned.

Every football club in Britain therefore has its own army fit and willing to engage in massive co-ordinated action. The genius of the English Defence League was to try and tap this enormous resource and redirect the energy expended on the irrational into something rational. To take, that is, the hollow love for a corporation (because that is all modern football teams are) and channel it into a love of country and culture.

Indeed, the original name for the EDL – ‘Casuals United’ – (‘Casual’ is an English phrase for a football hooligan hidden among ordinary supporters by the wearing of inconspicuous casual clothes) suggested a unification of the nation’s hooligans into a common formation; one in which all differences would be suspended under a single banner to combat a menace that recognises no distinctions.

And how it worked!… For while at least.

Crowds came out in thousands. Shivers trickled down the coward spines of Islamists in every city. Streets were, for a while, reclaimed – repatriated to the soil beneath their urban paving and all its socialist rot.

And then in Walthamstow, the Socialists fought back and by numbers the EDL was humiliated in a way it never recovered from.

Months later, sensing the ship he built beginning to waver, leader Tommy Robinson converted to moderation, leaving confused and betrayed masses scrambling for land and meaning.

They have since failed to find any.

The EDL is dead. Deader than the BNP, National Front or any other ‘far-right’ political body to which it was once erroneously compared.

Those armies the EDL plucked from the fancy of sport are now steadily returning to the terraces. All their anger will soon be again directed at millionaires booting a ball of leather on a green-grass pitch, and not spent on protesting the encroachment of a religious community who would forbid such gatherings altogether. A sad irony.

Those who still fancy a fight for cultural survival are turning their gaze to the cultureless Thatcherites of the United Kingdom Independence Party; a clique obsessed by money, Europe and rural freedoms.

I’ve mentioned elsewhere that as it relates to Jihadism, UKIP is a blunt sword. Nigel Farage, his oratorical brilliance aside, is nothing more than a corporate dandy, politically deep and ideologically shallow.

We would of course be better off under a UKIP regime in the short term, but the long term would likely emerge unaffected.

The search for a viable resistance continues. It is to accelerate that search that we should be frank about the EDL’s demise. It has ceased to motivate or to inspire and should now be disbanded.

0000

The consensus of English elites regarding the potential independence of Scotland – namely that the proposed amputation would prove fatal to the British concept – is misguided, I believe.

While the departure of Scotland would certainly be injurious to the Britain of nostalgia, its effect on the British future is harder to guess. Having studied (albeit briefly) the projected consequences of independence on the UK electoral system, I am personally inclined to estimate a positive outcome.

It’s an open secret in Britain that the Conservative party, despite failing to gain a majority over-all, won the last 3 general elections in England by a fair margin. In each instance, the tories were only denied office (or, in the most recent election, a governing majority) because of the Scottish fidelity to Labour.

With the Scotch vote removed from consideration then, the Political Left in England would have the carpet whipped from underneath them, and the Right would be  granted a new freedom of ideological movement, potentially allowing a move back toward the Tory ideal of low-immigration, low-tax libertarianism.

I’m not personally a Tory – far from it in fact – but as corrupt and slippery as the Conservatives have become, I believe the Political Left and its survival poses a far greater threat to the continuity of Britain (as a material whole) than the proposed autonomy of Edinburgh.

Crumbling CounterJihad?: Refuting ‘Loonwatch’.

0000000000000000000000000000

Anyone involved with the CounterJihad movement will be familiar with the Website ‘Loonwatch’. As its name would imply, the site is intended to be a satirical antidote to Jihadwatch (and other similar websites).

Normally, the articles posted on Loonwatch are of scant interest (most simply recycle the garbage idea that Islamophobes are somehow guilty of racism), but this past week, a more analytical piece was uploaded that demands greater attention. The piece is titled ‘Crumbling “Counterjihad”? EDL, SION, SIOA and the Transatlantic Kerfuffle’, and its main contention is that the ‘Islamophobic’ movement is falling apart.

The author of the post – ‘Garibaldi’ – writes that “The reasons for the inherent instability in the “counter-Jihad” reflects the fissures in ideological make up between the various personalities, as well as incongruities between their inflated egos.” (Note: ‘Reflects’ in this sentence should be singular)

Garibaldi then cites a history of ‘internecine civil wars amongst the counter-Jihad’ including the following perceived confrontations..  “Debbie Schlussel vs. Brigitte Gabriel, Pamela Geller, Robert Spencer, Zuhdi Jasser, Walid Shoebat, etc… (Robert) Spencer vs. Andrew Bostom. Roberta Moore of the JDL vs. the EDL and now the latest kerfuffle: Geller and Spencer vs. Tommy Robinson and Kevin Carroll.”

While many of the schisms mentioned were (and in some cases still are) real, they are nothing more than symptomatic of a vibrant, democratically-spirited movement with a tolerance for dissent. Indeed, this might contrast sharply with the almost cult-like uniformity typical of Leftist movements.

Debbie Schlussel, to take one example, is a proudly independent cultural critic. The same is true of Pamela Geller. The fact that they sometimes disagree seems hardly worthy of comment. Both espouse the same kind of opinion, face down the same bullies and name-throwers, and expose themselves to the same risks.

Ms Geller’s accusations against Tommy Robinson similarly have been taken out of context here. Both Geller and Robinson remain essentially in agreement over the need to tackle radical Islam, and even if they don’t see eye-to-eye on each other’s methodology, both are one and the same from an Islamist point-of-view.

As for the talk of clashing ‘egos’, this is pretty rich coming from a Left-wing source.  The Anglo-American Left contains such icons of humility as Michael Moore, Laurie Penny and Barack Obama, and unlike those on the right, Left-leaning parties are dominated by University-educated Toffs (try standing for the Democratic Party without a degree).

Garibaldi goes on to offer this catch-all assessment of the CounterJihad tendency:

“All that binds them is Islamomisia and Islamophobia. On the surface their ideological backgrounds provide a motive: a belief in the need to preserve Christianity in the face of post-Modernity and a rise in Secular Humanism, a belief that it is good for Israel and Zionism, a desire to keep White Europe pure, the nostalgic belief that they are the vanguard “defenders of freedom” who will not only save the “West” from a resurgent Islam but harken in a golden age and if not–Armageddon.”

This is a very bizarre attempt to transform virtue into sin. That the CounterJihad tendency attracts a plurality of people from different backgrounds is presented as a flaw. “All that binds them…” is the very subject under consideration. Why wouldn’t it be?

Regarding the perceived motive of keeping ‘White Europe pure’, this is a pretty hackneyed accusation. If it applies at all, it is only to the wildest Nick Griffin-ite fringe. While such people certainly exist, to tar Pamela Geller with the same brush as the BNP is absurd.

The future of the CounterJihad movement is not something that can be safely predicted in detail, but it would take a very uninformed mind to reason that it doesn’t have one. The Jihadist threat is mounting across Europe, and the cause of resistance will grow alongside it.

English Defence League (EDL) leader Tommy Robinson

It isn’t a crime to change your mind. A greater folly is to surround your political conviction with an invulnerable coat of armour, letting it stand unaffected by changing evidence or opposing argument.

Tommy Robinson has clearly changed his mind. He hasn’t recanted his past beliefs, but he has substantially moderated them to almost that effect. He no longer believes (so he says) in making Muslims ‘uncomfortable’, or in tarring fundamentalist believers with the same brush as ‘moderates’. Talking to the Guardian, he even went so far as to apologise to the Muslim community for any offence he has given these past few years as EDL leader.

Although this might be disappointing for some, we should try to respect it. I don’t believe, like Nick Griffin, that Robinson was ever a puppet, or that the EDL was a deliberate misdirection of patriotism, a ‘shady Zionist plot’, or a government funded psy-op. It always seemed to me a perfectly sincere enterprise with a clear manifesto and a brilliant organisational structure. It was also something which – in its heyday- did great things for our cause and our defence.

It won’t surprise you then to hear that I disagree wholly with Robinsons new outlook.

His entire conversion, for me, rests upon a flawed idea; namely, the idea that Islam can be moderated by the sentiment of nationality.

What Tommy is now asking of Muslims in effect, is that they become British first and Muslim second, or in other words, that they take the here-and-now as seriously as the hereafter.

But, as anyone who has read Qur’an knows, the Muslim faith hinges on a belief that this earthly life, with all its loyalties, bounties and appearances is merely a test and a prelude to a greater reality. The ‘Muslim’ (literally ‘one who submits’) treats this life as a preparation, a period of moral labour necessary to unlock the doors of death and dwell forever in paradise.

To be ‘British’ by contrast, is of no value whatsoever, or at least not relative to the promise of eternity.

With this in mind, the creation of a distinct ‘British Muslim’ identity seems unrealistic to me. The two loyalties would be locked in constant battle, and the fallout would be toxic.

It would be nice if Tommy’s optimism was proven correct. I’m not convinced it will be.

On Tuesday, EDL leader Stephen Yaxley Lennon (otherwise known as ‘Tommy Robinson) announced that he and co-founder Kevin Carroll are to leave the organisation, in their words to pursue “better, democratic ideas” by which to continue the fight against Political Islam.

Generally speaking, this announcement came as a great surprise to those within the EDL, and the reasoning since given for it by Robinson has confounded much of the liberal press too. Only a month beforehand, he had been tweeting typically hostile comments toward Islam and Muslims, and yet suddenly the former hooligan appeared to have been tamed.

Why? Personally, I’m not sure. Nobody is more shocked by all this than me. According to many different gauges, the organisation seemed only recently in peak health. The EDL page on facebook has never been so popular, with roughly 161,000 ‘likes’ and a second unofficial page with 40.000 more. The demo in Tower Hamlets last month was hardly disastrous, and there is a large and popular outing planned for the coming weeks in Bradford.

But even if the ‘why’ remains shrouded in mystery, the ‘where next’ must now be addressed. Currently, the English Defence League is leaderless. Many thousands of activists face an anxious wait to see who replaces Robinson as their public representative. Some candidates (including the ‘pot-plant guy’ from UKIP) have already been ruled out. I have no nominations of my own.

But a leader must be found soon. The danger of a prolonged state of flux is mass defection. The BNP will almost certainly be eyeing this up. I’ve yet to check the BNP website (I haven’t got the stomach at the moment), but there will inevitably be a semi-literate post claiming the resignations as a ‘victory’ for Nick Griffin. They are, of course, nothing of the kind, but such is the nature of fascist solipsism.

When and if one arises, the most important question for a new EDL leader must not be “What went wrong?” but ‘What can yet be achieved?”

Although Robinson cited ideological reasons for his resignation, there were perhaps other factors involved, such as a declining turnout for demonstrations and lessening media profile. To attain greater victories in the future, significant changes to the core mission of the EDL will be required. To this end, here are five suggestions for the new leader:

1. Reduce the number of irregular demonstrations in favour of larger-scale demos to mark significant occasions (the aftermath of a terror attack/St George’s Day etc..). Make clear to members that their attendance is expected rather than merely desired. Make the rallies pleasant, static affairs with speeches and music, rather than kettling and confrontation.

2. Ensure a number of ethnic-minority spokespeople (especially ex-Muslims) to blunt the accusation of racism.

3. Get rid of the fascistic and irrelevant ‘In Hoc Signo Vinces’ slogan. It has connections with totalitarianism. As a replacement, consider something like the Luxembourgian National Motto ‘Mir wolle bleiwe wat mir sin’ – “We Want to Remain What We Are.”

4. Create a formal membership structure. This will make it possible to expel those who make fascist salutes or threats at rallies.

5. Stand firm on fundamental principles. This is a liberal-democratic country and Muslims are antithetical to our way of life.

Whatever approach is pursued, now is plainly not the time to throw in the towel. The current of Islamisation remains as strong as ever, and the methods hitherto employed by the EDL have borne real fruit. Thousands of patriotic souls have braved all kinds of inconvenience to make a fraternal stand against something toxic and dangerous to our country. They must not be betrayed, or left in want of hope.

The controversial (and stupidly ambiguous) Morrissey album-track ‘National Front Disco’ has been ringing in my head all week. One lyric in particular (addressed  – as the whole song is, to a young skinhead called ‘David’) has distracted my thinking:

‘David, we wonder/ we wonder if the thunder/ is ever really gonna begin…’

As I say, I’m not a fan of the song, but it did make me think.

Islamophobia is less a tendency now than an industry. We can no longer claim that we are being censored by newspapers, online searches, or publishing houses (if Mark Steyn can get published, there can be few limits). The censors have tried, but they have failed. Our worldview is rising faster than that of its detractors.

But with this popularity also arrives cause for doubt. If thousands of people, millions even, are receptive to this political voice, why is the struggle still limited to chat-rooms and blog-sites? When indeed will the popular ‘thunder’ roll?

After Lee Rigby was hacked to death near his barracks, there was, mixed in with the general shock and anger, a definite silver-lining of hope. I really did believe that Muslims had crossed a line that could not be recrossed. Only weeks later, the tragedy was fish & chip paper.

So if not the brazen murder of our soldiers, what kind of event can change the political atmosphere?

I remember putting this question to a leading figure in British CounterJihad movement and he suggested that an event of sufficient severity had only recently (and narrowly) been avoided. A few months ago, Islamists were convicted in a British court of planning to bomb an EDL rally. Had they succeeded, he argued, they would have triggered great social disorder and secured the hatred of a whole generation of English youths.

What other processes could bring a resolution closer? I’ve been thinking about this all week and I’ve come up with the following three scenarios:

1. A CounterJihad Spring.

Another terrorist attack in Central London is almost certain. Sometime, somewhere, yet more innocent Brits will have to die, probably by fire or bullet.

But what if – after one such occurrence – some patriot group of note refuses to get angry and sets about getting even. Using social media, they instruct every party supporter to file into Parliament Square, bringing with them food, shelter and changes of clothing. Thousands show up, just as asked, and many more (from right around the country) pledge to join them. The media arrive to be told that the area is hereby ‘occupied’ until the government (no, let’s go further), until the EU pledges a total halt to Islamic immigration. Police would struggle to halt the spread of the protest and  – as long as it remained lawful and peaceful – it might well bear  genuine fruit.

2. Elite Defections.

Celebrities are Leftists by instinct. If you’re a musician, comedian, novelist or pop-journalist, you will only succeed by being ‘cutting-edge’ and this will inevitably place you with a multicultural crowd. Reflecting this, liberalism is almost mandatory among the British celebrity elite.

But what if – by some unknown trigger – a few celebrities of note began to defect away from the liberal consensus on Islam and caused a shift in broader society. It isn’t unthinkable. The policies of Islam on women, homosexuality, drug-use and the playing of musical instruments are completely at odds with everything the elite promotes. The alliance then between liberals and their own worst enemy cannot hold forever.

3. The Queen Dies.

I’ve mentioned elsewhere that the passing of the Queen will potentially have a major impact on the social climate of the UK. In the weeks following her passing, all political bets will truly be off. If one – just one – Muslim group waved a placard speculating that Her majesty was rotting in hell, or otherwise cast negative aspersions on her character, a unifying rage would glue the classes of England together in a way that would astonish foreign observers. Testifying to this, British Islamist groups, for all their enthusiasm in murdering our soldiers, have not yet summoned the courage to offend the Royals. That said, only a fool would rule it out.

So, there’s three events which could bring this long argument toward something like a resolution. As for anything more immediate from our political leaders, don’t hold your breath.

D, LDN.
